BIG OAK CHILD CARE CENTER

Main Content

BIG OAK IS A SMALL, NOT-FOR-PROFIT, PROGRESSIVE CHILDCARE CENTER ON MADISON'S EAST SIDE

Big Oak strives to provide a home-like atmosphere in a building that was converted from a private family home in 1987. The toddler programs are on the first floor and the preschool is upstairs. A child can enter Big Oak as a toddler and move into the preschool until they’re ready for kindergarten. Though each program has separate goals, occasionally activities are provided that all Big Oak children can participate in together.

Our staff recognizes the need for consistency. The routines and schedules we provide incorporate activities that foster children’s interests and emerging skills, while allowing children freedom of movement, in order to provide a positive and empowering experience.

We are a state licensed and city accredited program serving children one to five years old.

4K

Big Oak has accepted a contract with the Madison Metro School District (MMSD) to offer a 4K program at our center.

Orton Park Summer Camp

Orton Park Camp is a full day, outdoor-based program. We are state licensed and city accredited with a 5 out of 5 Youngstar rating.

Curriculum

In each classroom, Big Oak implements the Creative Curriculum® and uses Teaching Strategies GOLD™ a tool to assess and track the individual development of each child.

Board of Directors

Big Oak Child Care Center is governed by a Board of Directors, and operated by a paid staff. Members are the parents or legal guardians of the children currently enrolled at the Center and all current employees.
